Feb/March Events

Bootleg Abba got our Saturday night entertainment off to a brilliant start, with another packed Ringside Restaurant dancing the night away to some classy 70's tunes.

This Saturday we have no racing but do have Compton Hospice celebrating their 30th Anniversary with us. We cant wait to see a DeLorean at the racecourse!

In March we have two fantastic evenings planned. On March 10th we have the Lincoln Trial Day. This race fixture will host the prestigious Lincoln Trial and the Lady Wulfruna Stakes. With live broadcasting on Channel 4 racing, this is the race day for all race fans. If the exciting racing is not enough, we have a special treat for Darts Fans. During the afternoon, race goers have the opportunity to take part in our Pro-Am darts challenge. Simply step up to the ockey in Ringside and throw nine darts between races to be in with a chance of a partnering two ex-world champions. The highest scorers will go through to partner Eric Bristow or Keith Deller in the final Pro-Am Challenge, with cracking prizes on offer for winners! Click here to book tickets.

Come to the racecourse on St.Patricks Day, March 17th, for a great Irish Night. Achtung Baby, the premier U2 tribute act will be rocking the foundations of the Ringside Restaurant. We are really excited for St Patricks Day this year, we've got the music. we'll have the Guinness, all we need are guests who are ready for a great evening! Click here for further information.

Have a great few days, we hope to see you at the racecourse soon!

February 2012

Its a packed February schedule at the racecourse with 8 more fixtures scheduled. Due to the disruptive weather we have been given an extra two fixtures, so its been keeping us very busy. The mixture of heavy snow on Saturday and fog on Monday have made it difficult for us due to safety concerns, but the estates team have been doing a fantastic job of keeping the track running.

Our live entertainment evenings start up again this month. February 11th sees Bootleg Abba return to the racecourse for another great evening of racing, fine dining and live music. Tickets are still available in Horizons and the Ringside but we do have limited availability, call us on 01902 390000 for further information.

The 18th February sees Compton Hospice celebrate 30 years of great service in the West Midlands. The evening, an 80's themed event, will see an 80's themed menu designed by our Head Chef Chris Gordon, 80's games and entertainment from pop star Jaki Graham. Tickets are very limited to speak to Compton ASAP to book tickets.

Have a great month, lets hope the weather gets better!

Compton Hospice 80’s Event

Head Chef Chris Gordon, the leader of the A-Team of catering staff at Wolverhampton Racecourse, has managed the impossible, by going back in time and creating an 80’s themed menu for the 30th Anniversary of Compton Hospice!

The Hospice will be holding their 30th Anniversary at the racecourse on Saturday February 18th 2012, celebrating 30 years of great work in the West Midlands. The event is the perfect opportunity to reminisce about how Compton has helped so many families over the past 30 years, and to also look forward to the future.

Head Chef Chris said “It’s been a great challenge to organise a menu that will befit of such a fantastic event. I was never very good at the Rubik’s cube in the 80’s, but this is one puzzle that the team and I have been able to solve”

With Um Bongo Fruit Juice and the Harvey Wallbanger available to wet the appetite of revellers, 80’s favourites the Quiche Lorraine a giant cheese and pineapple hedgehog will also be making an appearance. For dessert a fine selection of sweets are available, but what 80’s party wouldn’t be complete without abit of Angel Delight!

The evening begins at 7pm and will future live music from Kick up the Eighties and also a performance from 80’s Pop star Jaki Graham, who had a string of hits including Could it be I’m Falling In Love? Which reached No.5 in the British charts in March ’85 and ‘Round and Around’. There will also be a host of 80’s games for revellers to enjoy throughout the evening and retro cocktails to help the night go with a retro bang!

Sally Woods Community Fundraiser from Compton Hospice said “The room size and service that Wolverhampton Racecourse could offer were second to none. We are able to celebrate with so many of our friends that we have made over the years. The 80’s theme will help the day be even more memorable”.

Tickets which are priced at £26.95 are still available but are selling fast. For more information call Sally Woods or Simon Cater on 08452255497.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Sponsors

The Racecourse had the privilege on Monday 2nd January to sponsor the Wolves vs Chelsea game, and other than the result, what a great day it was! The day started at 11.45am with a tour around the ground and back areas, big thanks go to Harry for giving us the guided tour! We were lucky enough to see inside the Wolves dressing room before the game, all shirts and boots were ready to go. We then had a meal before the game and took to our seats just before the whistle blew! Although Wolves lost, they gave it a good go and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
